Our View:Garza really hurt himself by allowing Philadelphia to take him deep three times, including back-to-back jacks by Chase Utley and Ryan Howard in the sixth inning.

Matt Garza pitched an excellent seven innings in Game 7 of the ALCS as the Rays defeated the Red Sox 3-1 to advance to the World Series. He struck out nine batters while allowing just two hits, including a first inning solo home run to Dustin Pedroia in the first inning. After the game, he was named the ALCS MVP.

Our View:Garza allowed just two runs in his two wins against Boston. Garza had a 3.70 ERA and a 11-9 record in his first season with Tampa Bay.

Our View:In his two postseason starts, the 24-year-old hurler is 1-1 with a 4.50 ERA (no home runs allowed). He has fared well under the pressure of the playoffs, and will need to keep his composure tonight in the biggest game in the history of the Rays' franchise, with a trip to their first World Series on the line.

Our View:Garza threw 116 pitches, and was clearly losing steam as he started the seventh but allowed a walk and a single. The Rays take a 2-1 series lead.
