Newsbreakers
September 17, 2008
First baseman Joe Koshansky made his first start for the Rockies since July and came through big time. His fourth inning solo home run was the only run of the game and propelled Colorado to a 1-0 victory over the San Diego Padres on Wednesday.

Our View:Koshansky is not worth picking up despite the MVP-for-a-day performance. He is now hitting .200 in 30 at-bats this season.
July 21, 2008
The Rockies have sent Joe Koshansky back to Triple-A Colorado Springs, MLB.com reports.

Our View:We'll likely see the slugger back in the bigs this September, if not sooner. He didn't hit particularly well during this call-up, but 22 at-bats is hardly an ample sample size.
July 7, 2008
Joe Koshansky is starting at first base on Monday night as the Rockies begin a road trip in Milwaukee. Koshansky is starting for the injured Todd Helton. The left-handed hitter is sixth in the batting order as he and the Roks square off against Brew Crew starter Seth McClung.

Our View:Jeff Baker, who has played some first base is starting at second base and hitting seventh in the batting order.
July 4, 2008
First baseman Joe Koshansky has been recalled from Triple-A Colorado Springs, according to the AP. He was brought in to fill the open roster spot for Todd Helton, who landed on the DL due to his ailing back.

Our View:Koshansky is hitting .281 with 18 home runs and 78 RBI over 82 games for Colorado Springs. He could be worth a look in NL-only leagues, especially if you lost Helton from your lineup.
September 2, 2007
The Rockies purchased Joe Koshansky's contract from Triple-A on Saturday when rosters expanded. Koshansky hit .298 with 21 homers and 99 RBI prior to the promotion. Given the presence of Todd Helton at first base, the Rockies could eventually use Koshansky as trade bait.
