Jim Johnson has been shut down for the remainder of the season after an MRI revealed some abnormalities in his injured shoulder, according to the Baltimore Sun.

Our View:The ailment isn't considered very serious or a long-range issue, but the team feels it is best to end his season early.

Jim Johnson is scheduled for an MRI exam Friday after experiencing problems with his right shoulder, according to the Baltimore Sun. Johnson said, "I don't think we're exactly sure what's going on. It's just a little soreness. We'll take it from there and go day-by-day, I guess. We're in the last month. If something doesn't feel right, then I'm not going to push it."

Our View:Johnson has pitched just once in the last eight days, but team GM Andy MacPhail does not believe his injury is a long-range issue.

Rays manager Joe Maddon was not pleased that Orioles reliever Jim Johnson hit shortstop Jason Bartlett with a pitch one at-bat after he hit a home run on Sunday, and thinks Johnson did it purposely, according to the Tampa Tribune. "The last one was intentional. ... I really don't know why they did it, but it was on purpose," Maddon said.

Our View:Maddon stated that everyone in the Orioles dugout went to the top step to watch it happen, even though they had been sitting down the rest of the game. Bartlett has all of one home run on the year, so if the pitch was intentional, we're not sure what the message is.
May 29, 2008
Jim Johnson continues to excel in the bullpen for the Orioles leading the club with 29.1 relief innings and a 1.23 ERA, according to the Baltimore Sun.

Our View:Johnson certainly isn't someone who was targeted early in the year, and while he still may only have value in very deep leagues, he has been a welcomed addition to those clubs looking to improve their ratios.
