Tim Lincecum has won the NL Cy Young Award, according to the Associated Press. Lincecum earned the honor by winning 18 games, while maintaining a 2.62 ERA and 1.17 WHIP over 227 innings, with 265 strikeouts.

Our View:The second-year pro joins Mike McCormick (1967) as the only San Francisco Giants pitchers to win the award. He received 23 of 32 first-place votes, beating out Arizona's Brandon Webb.
October 24, 2008
Tim Lincecum was named the starter on the National League Sporting News All-Star team, according to the Orange County Register.

Our View:Lincecum was selected over the likes of Brandon Webb and Johan Santana, and the question is does this decision foreshadow how the NL Cy Young vote will play out?
October 20, 2008
Tim Lincecum has been chosen as the NL Pitcher of the Year by the Sporting News, according to the Cleveland Plain Dealer.

Our View:Cliff Lee of the Indians won the same honor in the AL. Lincecum was notably drafted by the Indians, but did not sign with the team.
September 28, 2008
Tim Lincecum struck out 13 batters in seven innings on Sunday against the Dodgers. He allowed one run on four hits and two walks

Our View:He had lost his previous two starts but ends the season on a high-note. Lincecum may take home the NL Cy Young this season. He went 18-5 for a down Giants squad and struck out a rather remarkable 265 batters in 227 innings. He ends the year with a 2.62 ERA.
September 26, 2008
Tim Lincecum will indeed make his final scheduled start of the season on Sunday, according to the San Francisco Chronicle. "I talked to him," manager Bruce Bochy said. "He doesn't want the season to end on his (previous) start. He feels great. He'd be disappointed if he didn't pitch."

Our View:Good for the Giants. With all these team's being so careful with young pitchers trying to micromanage every aspects of their throwing, the Giants are letting their young horse go. Of course, the questions will fly if it backfires, but what's one more start going to do?
