The Pirates optioned T.J. Beam to Triple-A Indianapolis Saturday. The move was made to clear a roster spot for Tom Gorzelanny, who is returning to the rotation.

Our View:Bean pitched well, holding a 4.01 ERA and 1.28 WHIP, but apparently he didn't do well enough to convince the Bucs he was worth a roster spot.

T.J. Beam has been recalled from Triple-A Indianapolis, according to the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review. The team placed reliever Franquelis Osoria on the 15-day DL as an adjoining move.

Our View:The Pirates' bullpen is shorthanded right now, and Beam was brough in for depth. His service with the club will likely be brief and he does not merit fantasy attention, especially since he allowed five runs over 4.1 innings with the Pirates this season, with only two strikeouts.

T.J. Beam was not tendered a contract by the Yankees on Wednesday. He posted an 8.50 ERA in 20 relief appearances in 2007.
September 1, 2006
The Yankees recalled T.J. Beam from Triple-A on Friday. In 12 games with the Yanks earlier in the year, he held a 10.50 ERA. Beam will pitch in middle relief for the Yankees.
August 21, 2006
The Yankees sent T.J. Beam back down to Triple-A Columbus Sunday to clear room on their roster for the return of Cory Lidle from the bereavement list, according to the New York Daily News. The club had recalled Beam Friday to give them some depth for their long weekend series against the Red Sox.
