May 13, 2008 Andy Cannizaro has been designated for assignment, according to the St. Petersburg Times. He has been battling illness, and the team needed to free up a roster spot for Ben Zobrist, who has been activated from the DL.
Our View:Cannizaro was limited to one at-bat over one game this season, and held no fantasy value prior to his designation.
March 12, 2008 Rays skipper Joe Maddon told the MLB.com on Wednesday morning that the team would be without the services of infielder Andy Cannizaro.
The Rays shortstop was admitted as a hospital outpatient Tuesday, and was given anti-inflammatory medication intravenously to treat a back problem.
Maddon said the illness wasn't serious.
October 17, 2006 The Yankees sent Andy Cannizaro to Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre on Monday, according to the New York Post. He hit .250 with one home run in eight at-bats with the Yanks in 2006.
