October 28, 2008
The Red Sox have claimed Virgil Vasquez off waivers from the Tigers, according to the Providence Journal.

Our View:The 26-year old-hurler spent all of 2008 at Detroit's Triple-A Toledo club, registering a 12-12 record with a 4.81 ERA over 27 starts. He tied for the International League lead with two shutouts. If he does make his way to the Red Sox, he will likely hold no value as a middle reliever.

The Tigers recalled Virgil Vasquez from Triple-A Toledo Thursday to replace Andrew Miller on the roster. Vasquez will get the start Friday in place of the injured Jair Jurrjens. Vasquez has been ineffective in two starts with the Tigers this year but has gone 12-5 with a 3.48 ERA in 25 starts at Toledo.

The Tigers will recall Virgil Vasquez from Triple-A Toledo to pitch in the second game of the doubleheader against the White Sox on Tuesday, according to the AP. He is 0-1 with a 20.25 ERA from one start with the team earlier this year.

Our View:He will only stay up for one start before heading back to Triple-A.
