May 27, 2008 The Baltimore Orioles have decided to move shortstop Luis Hernandez to a reserve role on a permanent basis, instead giving utilityman Freddie Bynum and veteran Alex Cintron a shot to compete for the starting job, according to MLB.com.
Our View:Hernandez has seen just five at-bats since Cintron joined the team. The young prospect tabbed to work as the replacement for Miguel Tejada struggled through a horrific spring training and is now on the outs, viewed as one of the lower bench options on the roster. Meanwhile, Bynum has started nearly every game at short for the last three weeks, and manager Dave Trembley has announced this will be the way the team moves forward.
