Newsbreakers
November 11, 2008
The Marlins expect the recently acquired Emilio Bonifacio to be an everyday player for them, and they will try him out this spring at third base, according to the Palm Beach Post.

Our View:This doesn't make sense, as Bonifacio is a good defender at second and Dan Uggla is not. We expect Uggla to eventually wind up at the hot corner and Bonifacio to hold down second.
November 10, 2008
Second baseman Emilio Bonifacio, 23, was dealt to the Florida Marlins on Monday, according to the AP.

Our View:Bonifacio is a career .240 hitter, who was traded to Washington for Jon Rauch by Arizona last season. With Dan Uggla heading for arbitration, it is possible the Marlins may look to trade him. Bonifacio could find himself competing for a full-time starter's job in the spring.
August 12, 2008
After a hot start, Emilio Bonifacio has been struggling at the plate, including tonight's 0-for-5 performance against the Mets. He struck out three times on the evening.

Our View:Bonifacio's biggest problem is quite simple to decipher: in 52 at-bats he has not drawn a single walk. Not one. He started off with hits in six of his first seven games, but has none since then. If you picked him up on your fantasy team due to his start, feel free to ditch him now.
August 7, 2008
Emilio Bonifacio went 2-for-5, stole a base, drove in a run and scored in the Nationals victory over the Rockies.

Our View:Bonifacio now has four multiple-hit games in his last six contests. His batting average is now over .300, and though he needs to work on his plate discipline (he has yet to take a walk), Bonifacio is someone to consider picking up in fantasy leagues.
August 4, 2008
Emilio Bonifacio went 3-for-5 with an RBI and two runs scored in Washington's 9-4 win over the Colorado Rockies.

Our View:Bonifacio has hit .444 in August since taking over for the released Felipe Lopez. He is someone to keep an eye on in fantasy leagues.
