Yunel Escobar may be back on the trading block now that the deal for Jake Peavy has fallen through, according to MLB.com.

Our View:The Cardinals are looking for a shortstop and would love to acquire Escobar if a deal could be agreed on. It wouldn't be the first time that the Cardinals and Braves have made a major trade, as the Cardinals sent outfielders J.D. Drew and Eli Marrero to the Braves for pitchers Jason Marquis, Adam Wainwright, and Ray King before the 2004 season.

Yunel Escobar has missed nine straight starts and stated on Monday that his strained hamstring hadn't improved, according to the Atlanta Journal-Constitution.

Our View:The Braves only have five games left, so it does not look hopeful that Escobar will return.

Yunel Escobar missed his third straight game Tuesday with a strained right hamstring, according to the AP. "We keep saying it's day-to-day, but I think it's a little worse than that," manager Bobby Cox said.

Our View:It sounds like Escobar might play sparingly the rest of the way.

Yunel Escobar sat out Sunday's game with a strained right hamstring, according to the Atlanta Journal Constitution.

Our View:He was limited to pinch-hitting duty. He grounded out in his lone at-bat (against the Mets), hence putting an end to an 11-game hitting streak. He is expected to return to the lineup Tuesday against the Phillies.
September 11, 2008
Yunel Escobar helped the Braves sweep away the Rockies on Thursday night, when he capped off a five run six inning with a three run home run. The homer was Escobar's 10th of the year. Escobar ended the night with two runs scored to go along with his three hits.

Our View:Escobar extended his hit streak to 10 games tonight and is continuing to raise his average, which is up to .290. Escobar continues to be a good option at short stop.
