Our View:Liz has excellent stuff and a fine minor league track record, but he has struggled with his command since joining the Orioles. This performance shows what he is capable of if he is at his best, but Liz has not shown enough consistency to garner fantasy value this season.
September 9, 2008 The wayward ways of Radhames Liz continued on Tuesday. He allowed eight hits and four runs (three earned) over 4.2 innings against the Indians. Liz walked three and struck out five. His ERA actually fell, going from 7.91 to 7.75.
Our View:Has this prospect been hanging around Daniel Cabrera too much? Liz has a live arm, but he also has 67 walks in 89.2 career innings. He can't be trusted in fantasy leagues.
September 2, 2008 Radhames Liz has been brough back from Triple-A Norfolk a few days after being sent down, according to the AP.
Our View:Liz held a favorable 5-3 record over 12 starts this season with the Orioles, but with a poor 6.95 ERA and 1.79 WHIP. He should be avoided in anything but the deepest of AL-only leagues.
August 30, 2008 The Baltimore Orioles have sent starting pitcher Radhames Liz to Triple-A Norfolk, but intend to bring back the right- hander in time to start Tuesday's game at Boston, according to the Sports Network.
Our View:Liz is 5-3 with a 6.95 ERA in 12 starts with the Orioles this year. The Orioles used the extra spot on the roster to recall infielder Oscar Salazar from Norfolk. He was recently named to the International League All- Star team after batting .316 with 13 home runs and 85 RBI for the Tides. Earlier this year, Salazar batted .235 with two home runs and four RBI in nine games with the Orioles.
August 22, 2008 As expected, Radhames Liz has been recalled from Triple-A Norfolk for Friday's start against the Yankees, according to the Baltimore Sun.
Our View:The 25-year-old righty went 2-2 with a solid 2.67 ERA over four starts with Norfolk since being demoted. But with Baltimore he went 4-3 over 10 starts, with a poor 7.47 ERA and 1.79 WHIP. He only merits fantasy consideration in deeper AL-only leagues.
