Paul Janish has been recalled by the Reds from Triple-A Louisville, according to the AP.

Our View:Janish only hit .188 (no homers) over 64 at-bats with the Reds in his previous stint this season, and does not merit fantasy consideration.

Shortstop Paul Janish has been optioned to Triple-A Louisville, according to the AP. The team activated Jerry Hairston Jr. from the DL as a corresponding move.

Our View:Janish only hit .188 over 64 at-bats, and will have to wait for another shot to prove he belongs on the Reds' roster.

The Cincinnati Reds have recalled SS Paul Janish to replace the injured Jeff Keppinger at the position, according to MLB.com.

Our View:Keppinger suffered a fractured left kneecap against the Florida Marlins. He has been placed on the 15-day disabled list, but he is expected to miss 4 to 6 weeks, thus giving Janish his first prolonged shot to play in the majors. This evening, manager Dusty Baker has inserted veteran Jerry Hairston Jr. at shortstop, hoping he can help the struggling offense back on track. Janish, viewed as a defensive gem, could be in the lineup as soon as this week.

The Reds have called up Paul Janish to take the roster spot of Jeff Keppinger, who fractured his left kneecap on Tuesday night, ESPN.com confirms. Janish, 25, was hitting .293-4-20 over 35 games at Triple-A Louisville.

Our View:The Reds could use Janish or Jerry Hairston, and knowing Dusty Baker, the veteran will get the call on most nights. There's a bit of NL-only league value here.
April 28, 2008
Paul Janish had a huge game for Triple-A Louisville on Sunday, going 4-for-4 with a home run and six RBI.

Our View:Janish is making a statement with the bat this season, hitting .297-3-13. The 25-year-old entered this season projecting as more of a utilityman due to his inability to hit in the upper levels of the minors, as he batted just .235 with four homers between Double-A and Triple-A last season. He is looking far better now, but we do have to keep in mind that he has not even seen 100 at-bats yet. Still, he is highly unlikely to help this season with Jeff Keppinger and Alex Gonzalez present in the majors.
