Aaron Laffey's sore elbow is back to 100 percent health, according to the Akron Beacon Journal.

Our View:He has full range of motion again. If healthy, he could push for a spot in the Indians' 2009 rotation.

Manager Eric Wedge said that Aaron Laffey had a spot in the Indians' rotation waiting for him once he healthy enough to return, but today's news on Laffey's elbow injury trumps Wedge's intentions. Laffey was not part of the September callups today. The reason he wasn't on that list is elbow inflammation that sprouted up in his last two starts at Triple-A Buffalo. According to the Indians' team website Laffey will miss the rest of the season.

Our View:So much for the six-man rotation that Wedge had planned.

Manager Eric Wedge noted that Aaron Laffey has a spot in the Indians' rotation waiting for him, according to the Cleveland Plain Dealer. Wedge said, "We're going to give him time to make sure he gets where he needs to be."

Our View:He helped in his bid to return, as he fired eight scoreless innings for Triple-A Buffalo Saturday.

The Indians have optioned LHP Aaron Laffey to Class AAA Buffalo today to make room for Fausto Carmona, who was activated from the disabled list and will start against the Twins tonight, according to the Cleveland Plain Dealer.

Our View:Laffey's demotion means that Matt Ginter will stay in the startng rotation. Ginter, who was out of options, was called up from Class AAA Buffalo on July 12 and is 1-1 with a 2.45 ERA in two starts. In his last two starts, Laffey allowed 16 runs, 11 earned, in 7 2/3 innings. Laffey (5-7, 4.23) has lost his last two starts and four of his last seven.

Aaron Laffey was pounded until he cried uncle on Wednesday in his seventh loss of the year. Laffey allowed two walks and 12 hits in just four innings which led to eight runs allowed, the third time in 10 starts in which he has allowed eight runs.

Our View:Laffey has permitted 16 runs over his last 7.2 innings, though only 11 of the runs were earned leading to a 12.91 ERA. Obviously Laffey should be benched for the moment, and given his alarming lack of strike outs, just 43 in 93.2 IP, he simply doesn't have enough "stuff" to overcome those days when his control is off.
