The Rockies optioned Darren Clarke to Double-A on Tuesday to open up a spot on the roster for LaTroy Hawkins, who just returned from the DL, according to the AP. Clark tossed 1 1/3 scoreless innings for Colorado in two appearances.

The Rockies are expected to promote Darren Clarke from Double-A Tulsa today. Clarke was slowed in the spring by a strained groin but has pitched well for Tulsa so far, striking out 10 without allowing a run in 6 1/3 innings. The southpaw has held lefties hitless. Zach McClellan is an option to be sent down.
