August 24, 2008 The Royals made a roster move, sending left-handed reliever Josh Newman back to Triple-A Omaha, to make room on the current roster for Sunday starter Brandon Duckworth, according to MLB.com.
Our View:Newman had pitched only 7 1/3 innings in four appearances since his callup on August 10th. He had no decisions and a 7.71 ERA. The move leaves the Royals with no left-handers on the Major League staff.

Our View:Overall, Newman has a 7.36 ERA on the season, with 10 walks in 14.2 innings. He did not warrant a spot on fantasy teams.

July 11, 2008 Reliever Josh Newman has been claimed off waivers from the Rockies on Friday, according to the AP. The Royals made room for the lefty on its 40-man roster by recalling right-hander Ryan Braun and placing him on the 60-day DL. Braun is recovering from an April 22 elbow surgery.
Our View:Newman will report to Triple-A Omaha, and will hold no fantasy value, especially as he allowed 15 hits, six walks, and nine earned runs over 8.2 innings of work this season in the majors.
May 30, 2008 Lefty hurler Josh Newman has been optioned to Triple-A Colorado Springs, according to the AP. Glendon Rusch has been recalled, and will start Saturday's contest against the Cubs.
Our View:Newman was rocked for nine runs and 15 hits over 8.2 innings of relief for the Rockies this season, with three homers allowed. He held no fantasy value for this season.
