Steven Shell threw a perfect 10th-inning for his second career save. Joel Hanrahan blew a save earlier in the night.
Our View:Shell lowered his ERA to 1.96 over 41.1 innings in 2008. It's unlikely he moves into the closer's role, but he should remain a solid setup option.

The Nationals recalled Steven Shell from Triple-A Columbus Saturday. Shell posted a 2.62 ERA and 8.3 K/9 rate in 22 games (four starts) at Columbus.
Our View:Shell will be making his major league debut in Washington, where he'll serve in middle relief.
