Kevin Mulvey had another terrific start for Triple-A Rochester, allowing one run on six hits and fanning nine for his second win of the season.

Our View:We must remember that Rochester is a big-time pitcher’s atmosphere, but Mulvey’s early results have still been terrific. He now has a 20/3 K/BB ratio in 17.2 innings, which is especially good for a pitcher who struck out only 110 batters in 151.2 innings at Double-A. The Twins’ rotation remains crowded, but Mulvey is bound to get his chance this season if he keeps this up.

Kevin Mulvey, part of the return in the Johan Santana trade, had his second solid start of the season on Saturday at Triple-A. Despite taking the loss, he allowed only one run on four hits in five innings and fanned six. Mulvey profiles as a middle to back of the rotation starter, and his strong start means that he is picking up right where he left off last season with a 3.32 ERA in 26 starts at Double-A. He could see some starts with the Twins at some point this season.

The Mets have agreed to trade Carlos Gomez and pitchers Philip Humber, Deolis Guerra and Kevin Mulvey to the Twins for Johan Santana. Santana first has to agree to a contract extension. Mulvey held a 3.20 ERA in 27 starts between Double- and Triple-A last year. He's likely to start the season at Triple-A Rochester.
