September 25, 2008 Nyjer Morgan appeared to hurt his hamstring running out an infield hit to lead off Pittsburgh’s game Thursday night against the Milwaukee Brewers according to the AP. Morgan ran through the base in the first inning and grabbed his left hamstring. He spent several minutes talking to a trainer before exiting, but ran off the field without a limp.
Our View:Morgan was hitting .289 with nine stolen bases in 159 at-bats over 57 games. He has been one of the NL’s best outfielders since Aug. 20, batting .354 and reaching base safely in 25 of his 27 starts.

The team has been pleased with his progress and manager John Russell said, "He's still learning a lot, but he's taking advantage of his opportunity right now. It's going to be a big off-season for him, a big spring. He wasn't as prepared this past spring as he could have been, and he now needs to put himself into a better position."
Our View:Morgan has registered two hits in each of his last two games, and is doing a solid job in his bid for a roster spot in 2009.
