August 8, 2008 As of now, Ivan Ochoa is the Giants starting shortstop and Emmanuel Burriss is the starting second baseman, and could stay that way in 2009, according to the SF Chronicle. Manager Bruce Bochy said, "It's very possible. That's what we're doing now, taking a look at them. It's early, but I think they work well together, and they're getting some hits, too."
Our View:Ochoa is hitting well with a .306 average over 14 games, with two doubles. He could be worth adding as a keeper league prospect.
July 11, 2008 The Giants have purchased the contract of infielder Ivan Ochoa from Triple-A Fresno, according to the AP. The team optioned Travis Denker to Fresno to make room on the roster.
Our View:Ochoa, who is a switch-hitter, was batting .318 with six homers, 32 RBI and 20 stolen bases in 84 games at Fresno. The 25-year-old is making his first appearance on a major league roster, and doesn't merit fantasy consideration in anything but larger NL-only leagues.
