Outfielder Alejandro De Aza had surgery on his left ankle on Monday and will miss the remainder of the season according to MLB.com.

Our View:De Aza had not seen any major league action this season. In his rookie season last year, the six-foot lefty hit .229 with eight RBIs in 45 games.

According to FishStripes.com, in the final inning of the final spring game, Alejandro De Aza suffered an ankle injury. The outfielder was down on the field for several minutes and had to be assisted off the field on a cart. The Marlins doctors performed X-ray on De Aza and are calling the ailment a left ankle sprain. It's an obvious assumption De Aza won't be ready for opening day. How much time he will miss is still unknown.

Alejandro De Aza had a tough day in the batters box against St. Louis on Thursday, as he went 0-for-3 with a strikeout, while stranding three men on base. His spring average remains fine at .317 but today's performance has not helped his chances to win a starting gig this season.
