September 6, 2008 Ramon Ramirez, 25, will start on Tuesday for Josh Fogg according to MLB.com. In 10 innings this season, Ramirez has struck out eight and allowed three earned runs. His last appearance, three innings in relief of Fogg, lasted three innings and he did not allow a hit.
Our View:We'll keep an eye on Ramirez to see if he has anything to offer in 2009. At this point, we do not expect him to have much impact.
August 30, 2008 Ramon Ramirez has been recalled from the minors, according to the AP. Infielder Adam Rosales was optioned to Louisville to make room on the roster.
Our View:He will get the start against the Giants in his MLB debut. The 25-year-old was a combined 6-8 with a 3.59 ERA and one save over 30 games, including 24 starts, with Louisville and Double-A Chattanooga this season. He is covering for Johnny Cueto, who is forced to miss his start due to a strained right elbow.
August 29, 2008 Ramon Ramirez will be called up by the Reds in order to make a start against the Giants on Saturday, according to the Associated Press.
Our View:Ramirez will replace Johnny Cueto who will miss the start because of a strained right elbow. Ramirez was 2-3 with a 4.70 ERA in nine starts at Double-A before moving on to Triple-A where he has gone 4-5 with a 3.08 ERA. He has been particularly hot of late with a 1.38 ERA over his last five outings.
