Our View:Bierd has pretty much already earned a roster spot for the entire season. It's not clear when he'll ready for activation.
February 27, 2008 Randor Bierd will be given every chance to make the opening day roster, and he helped his odds Tuesday with his work in an intrasquad game, according to the Baltimore Sun. The right-hander got out of a fifth inning, second-and-third jam with no outs without allowing a run. The game was tied at the time. A Rule 5 pick, Bierd has never pitched above Double-A, but the Orioles are going nowhere and might as well do what they can to try and keep his arm in the organization.
