Our View:The lefty will battle for playing time in the Astros' pen when he returns.

Wesley Wright is expected to be ready to pitch on Tuesday, according to the Houston Chronicle. He is nursing a strained middle finger on his left hand, but should be ready to go. He has been doing exercises to aid the finger, including using clay to strengthen the tissue in the joint. He stated, "I've been working on some stuff, and I guess I overused the finger, and it worked down the tissue around the joint. The swelling is down from Saturday, and I'll be excited when I get a chance to throw again. Hopefully, I'll be as pain-free as possible."

Our View:The lefty reliever has racked up two strikeouts over 2.1 innings this season, and this is good news regarding his return.

Wesley Wright, the Astros only left-handed bullpen pitcher, is unavailable to pitch on Saturday due to a strained right finger on his pitching hand, this according to MLB.com. "It's a little strain of my middle finger," Wright said. "I don't think it's anything serous."

Our View:Wright should be back in action soon, that is unless subsequent medical tests reveal some major issue that is as of now unknown.

Wesley Wright enjoyed a solid debut against San Diego on Monday night, according to, the Houston Chronicle. He is the only lefty in the Astros' bullpen and retired Brian Giles as his only man faced, and after the game Manager Cooper stated, "He's got such a good arm that my concern is coming in and throwing strikes. If he throws strikes, he might stay in against righthanders. I think initially what we'll try to do is get him in situations where he faces more lefthanded hitters and let him get comfortable."
March 30, 2008
Wesley Wright has made the Astros' opening day roster, according to the Houston Chronicle. The lefty earned the spot by going 1-0 with a 2.38 ERA in 11 relief appearances during spring training.
