Manager Manny Acta noted that Garrett Mock will be demoted to the bullpen following his poor outing in the rotation Monday, according to the Washington Post. GM Jim Bowden said, "Garrett has shown flashes of brilliance. Whether he ends up a third starter, a fourth starter or in the bullpen, he has quality major league stuff and he'll keep getting better."

Our View:He racked up nine strikeouts Monday against Milwaukee, but issued four earned runs over 4.2 innings, with three walks. Mock should be pleased to pitch in the bullpen rather than get sent down to the minors.
August 11, 2008
Garrett Mock fell to 0-3 in his third start of the season as he lasted just 4.2 innings against the Brewers during which time he allowed five hits (two home runs) and three walks leading to four runs.

Our View:Mock, a rookie, left the Nationals with 35 games out of 199 this season started by rookies. While he obviously didn't pitch well today, he had a big time nine strikeouts and now has 23 K in 19.1 IP.
August 11, 2008
Garrett Mock was called up from Triple-A Columbus on Thursday to serve in a spot start this afternoon against the Brewers. The right-hander walked two in a relief appearance on Friday, and in his last big league start (June 21) he allowed four runs and eight hits, walking one and striking out eight in six innings of an Interleague loss to Texas.

Our View:The Texas lineup is much like the Brewers, with the exception that Milwaukee isn't nearly as proficient against right-handers as the Rangers are. Mock's spot start is necessary because of a double header on Thursday in Colorado and won't receive two starts this week.
August 7, 2008
Garrett Mock has been recalled from Triple-A Columbus, according to the AP. He fills the roster spot for outfielder Elijah Dukes, who landed on the DL due to a strained right calf.

Our View:The 25-year-old righty is 6-3 with a 3.01 ERA over 19 games with Columbus, but went 0-2 with a 5.27 ERA in five games during three previous stints with the Nationals. He will be used as a reliever out of the bullpen, and does not merit fantasy consideration.
August 6, 2008
The Nationals are likely to recall Garrett Mock from Triple-A Columbus to replace Elijah Dukes, who is expected to land on the DL, according to the Washington Post.

Our View:Mock would be used as a long man out of the bullpen.
