Our View:Bocock, who was hitting only .163 in Triple-A after hitting .143 with the Giants, has been suffering pain in the finger for a long while. Look for him to be out of action for awhile before returning to minor league action.
June 25, 2008 The San Francisco Chronicle reports that shortstop Brian Bocock , now assigned to Triple-A Fresno, flew to Arizona on Tuesday to see a team doctor about lingering pain in the fingers of his throwing hand.

Our View:Bocock was seen as expendable, as he only hit .143 with no homers and two RBI over 77 at-bats, with 29 strikeouts. He held no fantasy value prior to his deserved demotion.

With Omar Vizquel nursing torn meniscus and Kevin Frandsen's erratic performance at shortstop in early Cactus League games, Bocock has become the favorite of manager Bruce Bochy who loves his fielding and hustle. "Range, arm, everything -- he's a Major League shortstop," Bochy said. Hitting just .182 this spring, his bat is not going to impress, but the young man is going to get a shot and could be a player to watch moving forward.
