Josh Outman is set to take the hill in Oakland's season finale at Seattle today, according to the SF Chronicle.

Our View:He was part of the deal that shipped Joe Blanton to Philadelphia, and could challenge for a spot in the A's rotation or bullpen in 2009.
September 13, 2008
Josh Outman only issued one earned run on four hits over five innings in Saturday's 7-1 win over the Rangers, with two walks and three strikeouts.

Our View:He started in place of Gio Gonzalez (moved to bullpen) in the rotation, and nailed down his first career win. He is worth fantasy consideration in AL-only leagues for the closing weeks of the season.
September 10, 2008
A's rookie hurler Josh Outman will take Gio Gonzalez's spot in the rotation, according to OaklandAthletics.com.

Our View:Outman has just 4.1 innings of big league work, and his ERA is 6.23, but in the minor leagues this season, he went 7-4 with a 3.11 ERA. It likely isn't wise to put him in fantasy rotations unless he shows some success.

Joshua Outman was not at Raley Field on Monday when Triple-A Sacramento played its last regular season game, and he is expected to be recalled by the Athletics today, according to the SF Chronicle.

Our View:The 23-year-old hurler was part of the deal that shipped Joe Blanton to Philadelphia. Outman's fastball can reach 97 mph, and consistently fires in the mid-90's. He would be used in the bullpen for depth, but could move into the rotation at some point in 2009.

ESPN.com reports that the Athletics got second baseman Adrian Cardenas, pitcher Joshua Outman and outfielder Matthew Spencer in return for Joe Blanton.

Our View:Outman should be happy about the transaction. The major league park in Oakland is far friendlier than Philly's and their farm system has produced a number of outstanding pitchers.
