Newsbreakers
September 13, 2008
Travis Snider had a big day Saturday, belting a three-run homer and a two-RBI double in the win over Boston.

Our View:Snider, the team's top prospect, is batting .333 with two dingers and seven RBI in 11 games since his recall.

Travis Snider hit his first career home run on Thursday night as he had three hits, two runs and two RBI for the Jays.

Our View:Snider is hitting .467 this season, though of course we are only talking about 15 AB here so don't go crazy with grandiose dreams of the second coming of Josh Hamilton here, but the kid can rake.

#7430 Travis Snyder# has been called up to take the roster spot of Matt Stairs, according to MLB.com.

Our View:Snyder, the clubs first round selection in the 2006 draft, he has hit .275-23-91 in 487 AB spread out over three leagues. He figures to see a fair amount of looks in the lineup as he will basically be asked to take over the role that Stairs filled.

With the news that Vernon Wells will likely miss at least a month of action due to his injured hamstring, the Jays might be considering calling up former 1 draft pick Travis Snider, according to the Globe and Mail.

Our View:Snider is hitting .286 with 13 home runs in Triple-A. With all of the injuries to the team it is obvious that the Jays will be lucky to finish at .500, so there really is no reason for the team not to give the young up and comer a shot.
