Our View:O’Day is currently rehabbing a torn labrum in his pitching shoulder, and he hopes to avoid surgery. The move cleared a spot on the Angels’ 40-man roster so they could protect another minor-leaguer from the Rule 5 draft in December, that player being pitcher Rafael Rodriguez.

Our View:O'Day appeared in 30 games for the Halos this season but is now facing surgery. Expect him to get it taken care of shortly.
