The Sports Network reports that the Cardinals have optioned Mitchell Boggs back to the minors after making two appearances over the weekend against the Mets. He is 3-2 with a 7.41 ERA this season.

Our View:The Cardinals recalled Nick Stavinoha to take his place. With Carpenter coming back Wednesday, Boggs may be in the minors until September.

Mitchell Boggs is slated to start Friday's game against the Mets at Shea Stadium, according to the St. Louis Post-Dispatch. He was promoted from Triple-A Memphis Monday.

Our View:Boggs was 3-1 with the Cardinals, but with a poor 6.59 ERA and 1.71 WHIP. He is not a solid option, especially tonight against the surging Mets.
July 21, 2008
Updating a previous note, Mitchell Boggs has been recalled from Triple-A Memphis in time to join the Cardinals bullpen for the Milwaukee series. Sunday's starter, Jaime Garcia, was demoted.

Our View:The bullpen was used extensively in the four-game sweep of the Padres and has been the biggest weakness for an otherwise solid Cardinals team. Boggs will see plenty of opportunities in the upcoming series, but doesn't figure to stick with the big-league club permanently.
July 21, 2008
The St. Louis Post-Dispatch suggests that Mitchell Boggs could get recalled by the Cardinals, as the team feels they don't have enough fresh arms for the Milwaukee series that begins Monday.

Our View:Boggs held a solid 3-1 record, but with a poor 6.59 ERA and 1.71 WHIP, and was rocked for 11 runs in his last outing prior to getting sent down. If recalled, he would only merit fantasy attention in larger NL-only leagues.
July 6, 2008
Rookie Mitchell Boggs has been optioned to Triple-A Memphis, according to the St. Louis Post-Dispatch. Joe Mather was called up to fill his spot on the roster.

Our View:Boggs had some success as a starter this season, but was rocked for 11 runs in his last outing, and the team decided to send him back to the minors to place Mark Mulder back in the rotation.
