According to the San Francisco Chronicle, Alex Hinshaw has emerged as a flame-throwing short reliever with an exceptional curve and a serviceable changeup. He began the season as the closer at Triple-A Fresno, but a string of injuries forced his call-up. "We really like his makeup," pitching coach Dave Righetti said.
Our View:Hinshaw was a starter off-and-on in the minors, and has terrific stuff according to scouts, but he has little fantasy value in traditional formats.
