Newsbreakers
November 16, 2008
Pablo Sandoval went 3-for-3 with two homers for Magallanes of the Venezuelan Winter League on Saturday, giving him nine homers for the season.

Our View:Sandoval will likely start at either first base or third base for the Giants this season, and he goes into the season as a nice sleeper after his strong 2008 between the minors and majors.
November 14, 2008
GM Brian Sabean stated that he envisions Pablo Sandoval roaming third base in 2009, after he previously stated he would work at first, according to the Mercury News.

Our View:There is a lot of time between now and spring training, so Sandoval's position could change again. He would rank as a sleeper next season if he ultimately nails down a starting spot, as he batted .345 with 24 RBI over 41 games in 2008.
September 30, 2008
Pablo Sandoval is "penciled in" to be the Giants starting first baseman next season, according to The Mercury News.

Our View:Sandoval hit .345 this season in 145 AB, and the dude can flat out rake. If he holds catcher eligibility in your league next season he is a must add because if this kid can rack up 500 AB while playing multiple positions, he could be quite the find.
September 21, 2008
Pablo Sandoval should return from his left quad strain on Tuesday, according to the Giants Official Website.

Our View:Sandoval is hitting .349 with 21 RBI in 34 games, and with the way he is swinging it, he could very easily end up in the Giants starting lineup next season, even if it's at first base. Go ahead and start him this week at catcher if you have been doing so of late.
September 21, 2008
Giants first baseman and catcher Pablo Sandoval was held out of the team's starting lineup on Saturday with a minor quad strain, according to the San Francisco Chronicle.

Our View:Sandoval entered later in the game to record a two run pinch hit, so the injury likely isn't thought to be too serious. His status for Sunday is not yet known.
