Red Sox make roster moves
Arlington, TX (Sports Network) - The Boston Red Sox made roster moves on Sunday, prior to their series finale with the Texas Rangers.

The club recalled pitcher Devern Hansack from Triple-A Pawtucket, activated pitcher Bartolo Colon from the 60-day disabled list and optioned him to Pawtucket.

In addition, the Sox designated pitcher Marcus McBeth for assignment.

Hansack was 6-10 with a 4.08 earned run average in 25 starts with Pawtucket in 2008.

Colon had been on the DL since June 17 with a lower back strain. The veteran starter went 4-2 with a 4.09... More...

Newsbreakers
David Ortiz, DHSunday 9/7, 7:18 PM CT
David Ortiz said, "My hand is not OK. It's still bothering me," according to RedSox.com. However, he did say that pain was not the problem, just occasional clicking, and he will play through it.

Our View:Ortiz has had a sub-par season for fantasy owners, due in large part to the wrist injury he suffered earlier in the year. Hopefully, Ortiz will make it through the year without any further time missed.
Jason Bay, LFSunday 9/7, 5:42 PM CT
Jason Bay hit his 27th home run of the season, and collected his 94th RBI in a 2-for-5 performance in the Red Sox 7-2 win over the Rangers.

Our View:Bay has had an outstanding year overall, and has helped Red Sox fans transition from being Manny-less. Fantasy owners have to be happy as well, after his struggle last year.
Paul Byrd, PSunday 9/7, 5:36 PM CT
Paul Byrd had a very nice game for the Red Sox, pitching six shutout innings against the Rangers, helping Boston to a 7-2 win.

Our View:This was easily his best performance in a Red Sox uniform, as he had given up four runs in three of his previous four starts. He remains an option only in AL-only leagues.
