MLB suspends Marlins P Owens 50 games New York, NY (Sports Network) - Major League Baseball has suspended Florida
Marlins pitcher Henry Owens 50 games for testing positive for performance-
enhancing drugs.
Owens, 29, has not pitched in the majors since June 2007 because of trouble
with his right shoulder. The right-hander was 2-0 with four saves and a 1.96
earned run average in 22 appearances in 2007 before heading to the disabled
list in June.

Jeremy Hermida is on the Phillies' radar, according to the Hot Stove Blog on MLB.com.
Our View:He is being considered as a replacement for the Phillies if outfielder Pat Burrell departs as a free agent. The Cubs, Rays, and Brewers are among the other clubs also interested in acquiring his services.
The Cardinals covet lefty relievers and Arthur Rhodes is on their radar, according to the St. Louis Post-Dispatch. GM John Mozeliak said, "The ball is rolling. Lefthanded relief is a market that will move quickly. It's kind of like the draft, where catchers go fast. There is a limited supply and they typically don't last until January."
Our View:The Cardinals were interested in Jeremy Affeldt but he signed with the Giants. The Cardinals also remain interested in Will Ohman, who received an offer from the Braves Monday. Rhodes is 39, but maintained a solid 1.25 WHIP over 35.1 innings in 2008.
