Jays owner Rogers dead at 75 Toronto, ON (Sports Network) - Toronto Blue Jays owner Ted Rogers died at his
home at the age of 75.
The founder of Rogers Communications Inc., Canada's largest cable television
and mobile phone company, suffered from congestive heart failure and saw his
health weaken over the past few years.
Rogers Communications owns the Blue Jays and their home at the Rogers Centre,
several television stations and an array of other media properties.
The company purchased the Blue Jays from Interbrew for $160 million in 2000.

Our View:The Braves will make him a four-year deal for $60 million, with an option for a fifth year. The Blue Jays, Yankees, Orioles, Red Sox or Phillies may not be willing to guarantee a fifth year, which is why Atlanta appears to be the front-runner.
The Atlanta Braves will make a five-year offer to prized free agent pitcher A.J. Burnett, according to the New York Daily News.
Our View:Atlanta is trying to rebuild their battered rotation, and with the Jake Peavy talks apparently on ice, they traded for Javier Vazquez and are now going after Burnett.
The Tigers are interested in Gregg Zaun, according to the Detroit Free Press.
Our View:The Tigers need depth at catcher, and Zaun could be used as a mentor for Dusty Ryan. Offensively, Zaun would offer little to the Tigers, and fantasy owners.
