Bobcats coach Larry Brown has let it be known that his team will draft the best player available with the no.9 selection on June 26 even if that player turns down the Bobcats request for a personal workout, according to ESPN. "It's agents trying to control the draft, saying they don't want a kid at a certain spot," Brown said. If they don't come here and they're available and we think they can help our club, I'm sure Michael [Jordan] will pull the trigger."

Our View:Good for you Charlotte. Player who are being given millions of dollars without having proven anything at the NBA level should be happy with whatever team wants to open up the bank vault.

The Bobcats will announce the hiring of Larry Brown as their head coach on Tuesday, the Charlotte Observer reports. Brown has coached the Nuggets, Nets, Spurs, Clippers, Pacers, 76ers, Pistons, and Knicks during his career. He ranks fifth in all-time wins with 1,010. Brown also coached the Carolina Cougars of the ABA from 1972-74 and played for the North Carolina Tarheels.

Our View:The combination of experience and local ties make Brown a good fit. The Bobcats have a core that includes Emeka Okafor, Jason Richardson, Raymond Felton, Gerald Wallace. Adam Morrison, and Sean May, and Brown's cupboard isn't empty. The Bobcats need good health and to figure out how to play together. They could see their record turn around quickly.

Reports suggest the Bobcats will go after Larry Brown to replace Sam Vincent as head coach. If Brown doesn't get the gig, the Bobcats may turn to Paul Silas, the Charlotte Observer reports.

Our View:Both Brown and Silas have local ties and are veteran coaches, so both options have their merits. The Bobcats have some nice, young, talented parts, but they need to stay healthy and figure out how to play together.
