Our View:West will look to team with Chris Paul to once again be one of the top inside/outside duos in the NBA. West averaged 20.6 points and 8.9 boards a game last season, and there is no reason to expect a regression from those totals in 2008.

Hornets forward David West, who suffered further pain in his bruised and sore back during a block in the back by Robert Horry in Game 6, participated in most of Sunday's practice, notes The Times-Picayune. He said after the practice that his back was "right at 100" percent, with "just about all of the soreness out of there." "My biggest thing is just to go out and not think about it," West said. "As long as there's no soreness and things like that, I'm not even going to worry about it. I'm just going to go out there and play, try to help this team advance."

Our View:Has anyone forgot what Horry did to Steve Nash last year in a their big playoff series? Expect Horry, the NBA's version of a hockey enforcer, to be on the backside of West pushing, punching and grinding at his injured back. This is the way Horry plays.

Hornets forward David West practiced with the team on Saturday and reports he is feeling great and is ready to go for New Orleans in Game 7 against the San Antonio Spurs today, according to the Associated Press.

Our View:West was forced off the floor during the fourth quarter of the team's decisive Game 6 loss on Friday, leaving concerns that he may be hampered for today's final series match. However, reporters at practice indicate West looked great in practice, working on mid-range jumpers, fadeaways, and post-up moves. This is amazing news for the Hornets fans as West has been a tremendous contributor this postseason, especially against the Spurs. They'll need his best to pull out the win today.

Our View:It seemed unlikely that West would sit out in a game of this magnitude, though he's sure to be less than 100 percent.

The New Orleans Hornets have enjoyed life on their home court, and this night was more of the same as the Hornets walk away from a 101-79 drubbing of the San Antonio Spurs. Leading the way was forward David West , using the outstanding assists from guard Chris Paul to go 16-of-25 from the floor and 6-of-7 from the charity stripe to score 38 points, also adding an amazing 14 rebounds, five assist, two steals, and a whopping five blocked shots in what may rate as the most commanding performance of this series.

Our View:West was simply en fuego, couldn't miss and could do no wrong. Now his team sits in command over the defending champ and could set the stage for a rise to the Western Conference finals.

Our View:This was West's second straight double-double against the Spurs and he has averaged 21 points a game over the three contests. He will likely continue to work against Tim Duncan at times, a tough matchup for the Hornets best inside presence.

Our View:In five games against the Mavs, west failed to score at least 20 only once (the Game 3 loss). That figure shows just how crucial his offerings are for this team advancing to the 2nd round of the Western Conference playoffs.

West went 10-of-13 from the field to score 22 while Peja went 9-of-15 from the floor, adding 5-of-8 from three-point land to score 24. Neither posted big numbers in other categories, but the effort was extremely influential in getting Paul to his numbers and getting New Orleans to a win.

West has been the key for New Orleans since coming back fro injury and continues to work as the primary weapon of choice for Chris Paul and the Hornets as they seek to solidify a high seed in the upcoming playoffs.

When the night started, we weren’t sure if David West would hit the hardwood to support his New Orleans Hornets against the top team in the West, also known as the Houston Rockets. West did play, and he was just fine, sharing a double-double evening with Chris Paul, scoring 23 points with 11 rebounds. When he’s healthy, West has been a revelation this season and has become one of the more underrated commodities in the game. Now he’s starting to fill that role when he’s not healthy.
