October 8, 2008
Chris Paul played like an all-star in 22 minutes on Wednesday as the Hornets beat the Pacers 105-71. He scored 17 points on nine shots and added five assists, three steals and three rebounds.

Our View:Paul is being universally selected in the Top 3 of fantasy drafts and well he should be. He puts up very good numbers across the board while dominating assists, free throw percentage and steals categories.
October 5, 2008
Chris Paul will have his minutes limited in the preseason in order to preserve him for when the games count, according to WBRZ News. “I don’t want to play him a lot of minutes," HC Byron Scott said. "I’ve been pretty consistent with keeping him in that 34 to 35-minute range (during the regular season), and I want to make sure it stays that way.”

Our View:Devin Brown and Mike James will battle for the backup PG spot, though neither will have much value given that Paul will play all the substantial minutes throughout the year. Don't let this news dissuade you from drafting Paul in the top-3, he will produce huge numbers regardless of what the coach hopes to do with his minutes.
September 16, 2008
Byron Scott will take it easy on recent gold-medalist Chris Paul in training camp according to the Times-Picayune. "I'm going to handle him with care, but with the same enthusiasm and drive that I normally handle him with," Scott said. "One of the hardest things about C.P., is trying to keep him out of practice. He likes to play and has that competitive nature."

Our View:Paul played the third most minutes on the USA team behind LeBron James and Kobe Bryant. Don't expect the Olympics to have any significant effect on the youngster's season. The do-it-all point guard is widely considered a Top 3 pick in fantasy leagues.
September 1, 2008
With Hurricane Gustav looming, the New Orleans Hornets shut down their operations on Friday so the team's employees could evacuate the city, according to the New Orleans Times-Picayune.

Our View:The team still has a while to go before training camp starts, so they wanted to make sure everyone had an opportunity to flee to safety.
July 25, 2008
Chris Paul made his presence felt in Team USA's 120-65 destruction of Team Canada by scoring 11 points to go along with eight assists, according to the Associated Press.

Our View:Paul played alongside Deron Williams in this game, giving the U.S. team arguably the two best point guards in the world playing at the same time.
July 9, 2008
The Miami Herald reports that the New Orleans Hornets have signed star point guard Chris Paul to a contract extension on Wednesday.

Our View:The deal is believed to be in the four year $68 million range. Paul certainly earned it last year as he finished seconf in MVP voting.
July 3, 2008
Chris Paul agreed to a three-year contract extension with an option for a fourth year, this according to the Times Picayune. The deal is estimated at $68 million, $20 million per season.

Our View: Hornets General Manager Jeff Bower and Paul's agent had been in discussions since Wednesday after agreeing in principle on the extension Tuesday.
July 2, 2008
Chris Paul and agent Lance Young met with the Hornets today to discuss a new contract extension, but they have yet to strike a deal, according to the Associated Press.

Our View:Paul is trying to decide between a four-year deal worth $68 million or a five-year extension worth $87 million, Young said. The extension would go into effect after next season, the last season covered by the contract Paul signed as a rookie in the summer of 2005.
July 1, 2008
Chris Paul will be getting a three to five year contract extension, according to Sportsline.com. His agent, Lance Young, is en route to New Orleans to hammer out the details. "We seem to be pretty much on same page. A little tweak here and there and we'll probably get it done in the next 48 hours," Young said. Depending on the length, the contract could be worth anywhere from $60 to $80 million.

Our View:This was obviously a no-brainer. Paul could have been the MVP this season, and is probably in line for that award at some point in the future. He is one of the best players in the NBA and should be treated as such in fantasy leagues.
June 19, 2008
Chris Paul will be one of the 12 members of US Olympic basketball team, according to the New Orleans Times-Picayune. The full team will be officially announced on Monday.

Our View:This would be his first selection to Team USA. He averaged 21.1 points, 11.6 assists, four rebounds, and 2.7 steals over 80 games with the Hornets in 2007-08, and was viewed as a virtual lock to make the team.
May 28, 2008
The New Orleans Hornets have come to terms on a contract extension with coach Byron Scott, according to the Sports Network.

Our View:Terms of the contract were not revealed, though the Network reports the New Orleans Times-Picayune has a source claiming this is a two-year agreement worth approximately $6 million per season. Scott was named this season's NBA Coach of the Year and led the Hornets to a record of 56-26, the best season the franchise has experienced during their 20 seasons in the NBA.
May 19, 2008
Chris Paul went 8-for-18 from the field on his way to 18 points, eight rebounds and 14 assists as the Hornets fell to the Spurs 91-82.

Our View:Paul had a fantastic season and will surely be a top-5 selection in all fantasy leagues next season, a designation that he more than earned with his effort this season.
May 15, 2008
Chris Paul scored 21 points, had six rebounds and dished out eight assists in the Hornets 99-80 loss to the Spurs in Game 6.

Our View:Not a bad effort at all, but more will be needed from Paul if the Hornets are to put the Spurs to bed, especially if David West is out in Game 7.
May 13, 2008
He could have been the MVP, but New Orleans guard Chris Paul would be much happier with another win, for the Hornets are now in firm command of their Western Conference semifinal series against the Spurs. Tonight, Paul led the way to a 101-79 whopping of the San Antonio, shooting 6-of-18 from the field, 1-of-2 from long range, and 9-of-11 from the charity stripe to score 22 points.

Our View:As is often the case, the true gift Paul brings to the party is the dime, a.k.a. the prolific assist, of which Paul totaled 14 on the evening, a stack that includes outstanding passes to forward David West who took those gifts and played Santa Claus for the town of New Orleans. Now the team sits in full view of the Western Conference finals, and with one more win will move ahead.
May 11, 2008
Chris Paul scored 23 but that didn't stop the San Antonio Spurs from beating up the New Orleans Hornets 100-80 on Sunday night in Game 4 to even the Western Conference semifinals at 2-2.

Our View:Paul and the Hornets head back to New Orleans for the all important Game 5.
May 8, 2008
Chris Paul had another MVP-type performance in Game 3 though the Hornets fell 110-99 to the Spurs to narrow their series lead to 2-1.

Our View:Paul went off for 35 points on 15-for-25 shooting, not to mention he dished out nine assists. Paul did his part on offense but he needs to be better on defense as Tony Parker poured in 31 points for the Spurs.
May 8, 2008
Chris Paul rounds out the All-NBA First-Team at guard for this season, according to the Boston Globe. Paul led the NBA in assists (11.6 per game) and steals (2.7 per game), becoming the first player since John Stockton in 1992 to lead the league in both categories the same season. CP-3 also averaged a team-high 21.1 points per contest.

Our View:Paul also led the Hornets to their first Southwest Division Title.
May 8, 2008
Chris Paul wore a protective sleeve over his left knee but participated in the Hornets' shootaround practice Thursday morning and will be able to start in Game 3 against the Spurs, according to the New Orleans Times Picayune. Paul is experiencing soreness in his knee and Coach Byron Scott said, "He's fine, but we're just trying to make sure he gets enough rest as possible so that he can give it 110 percent. We just don't need him to do all the running right now. He's in shape and it's not like he can get shape in one day. He's fine and will be ready to play."

Our View:Paul played 40 minutes and scored a game-high 30 points in Game 2 against the Spurs. It is unknown if Paul began experiencing the knee soreness during or after that game. The Hornets currently lead the series 2-0.
May 4, 2008
Chris Paul recorded a double-double in Saturday's 101-82 win over San Antonio, as he registered 17 points and 13 assists, with four rebounds and four steals.

Our View:That was his fourth double-double of the playoffs. He also has one triple-double. Paul had a stellar regular season, and has not slowed down in the playoffs.
April 29, 2008
The New Orleans Hornets have completed their 1st-round Western Conference playoff series, defeating the Dallas Mavericks in dominating fashion, 3 games to 1. The charge was led by MVP-worthy point guard Chris Paul , doing everything needed to lead his Hornets to their first playoff series victory. Paul shot 10-of-19 from the floor, 2-of-3 from long range, and 2-of-4 from the free-throw line to score 24 points (one-point shy of the team and game high), also adding 15 assists and 11 rebounds, completing the vaunted triple-double and putting his team into the 2nd round of the playoffs.

Our View:Paul averaged 24.6 points, 12.0 assists, and 5.6 rebounds per game for the Hornets in this series, an outstanding effort from an outstanding talent that will set the tone for his team (and, more than likely, the opponent) in Round 2.
April 27, 2008
If the Dallas Mavericks are going to even their NBA playoff series with the New Orleans Hornets, they need to find a way to stop guard Chris Paul . Through three games, Paul has averaged 27.7 points and 12.3 assists per game, solidifying beliefs that he may be worthy of MVP votes for the season.

Our View:However, there is hope. The Mavs managed to hold Paul to just 16 points on 4-of-18 shooting from the field, an effort that helped produce the 97-87 win for the Mavs as the Hornets failed to produce another option capable of putting Dallas on their heels. It is quickly becoming obvious this series may ride on the production of the prolific point guard now respected as one of the top talents in the game today. In the first two games, Paul went over 30 points and was a regular visitor at the free-throw line. It's not enough to batter him around, for he will hurt you at the charity stripe (24-of-28 for the series). Get him to miss shots from the field, and from that, hope may be born.
April 25, 2008
Chris Paul, who had dominated the Mavs in the first two games in the first round of the series, finished with 16 points on 4-of-18 shooting. The Mavericks 97-87 victory in Game 3 puts the pressure back on the Hornets when Game 4 tips off on Sunday in Dallas.

Our View:Paul added 10 helpers in the Hornets 10-point loss.
April 22, 2008
Chris Paul dominated the Mavericks again in Game 2. The MVP candidate finished with 32 points, 17 assists, five boards, and three steals in the 127-103 win. Paul hit 10 of his 16 shots from the floor.

Our View:The Mavs simply haven't had an answer for Paul. Maybe they should have made a big trade for a point guard before the...oh yeah, they did do that.
April 19, 2008
Chris Paul had an MVP performance in Game 1 on Saturday as he scored 35 points on 15-for-23 shooting while he also dished out 10 assists in the win. For good measure he added four steals.

Our View:Paul's skills were on full display tonight as he seemingly will the team to the win as they overcame a 12-point half-time deficit.
April 16, 2008
Chris Paul ended the regular season with yet another double-double, though you can bet he'd give it up in exchange for the win, but the Hornets fell 98-111 to the Dallas Mavericks.

Our View:Paul shot 6-of-12 from the field, 3-of-5 from three-point range, and 5-of-6 from the free-throw line to score 20 points, adding 10 assists to end an outstanding campaign for the player many now view as the class of the point guard position.
April 15, 2008
Chris Paul had 22 point as the New Orleans Hornets clinched the Southwest Division by beating the Los Angeles Clippers 114-92 on Tuesday night.

Our View:Paul is Kobe Bryant's primary competition for the MVP award.
April 12, 2008
In a battle to help determine the top seed in the West as well as your NBA MVP for the season, the Hornets fell short of the Lakers and suffered the loss, 104-107, and Chris Paul managed to damage his standing in the race for personal glory. Paul shot just 4-of-13 from the field, 0-1 from three-point range, and 7-of-8 from the charity stripe to post 15 points, 17 assists, six rebounds, and four steals. It was a strong effort, but in a three-point loss, poor shooting might have cost the Hornets the game.
April 9, 2008
Following an atrocious outing versus the Utah Jazz that resulted in a loss, Chris Paul and the New Orleans Hornets jumped back into the win column, taking down the Minnesota Timberwolves 122-90. Paul went 6-of-11 from the field, 2-of-4 from the three-point line, and a perfect 5-of-5 from the charity stripe to finish with 19 points, an astounding 16 assists, and five rebounds. Paul jumps back into the double-double juggernauts of the NBA and, if he can close nicely, will make a definitive push for the MVP award.
April 8, 2008
If this was a preview of the coming playoffs, where the Hornets might well find the Utah Jazz waiting, Chris Paul has worries to consider. Tonight’s horrific 66-77 loss to the Jazz was “highlighted” by one of the worst outings Paul has posted this season, going 2-of-11 from the field, 0-of-2 from long range, and 0-of-2 from the charity stripe to score four measly points, adding just nine assists and three steals to end an evening we would rather forget.
April 7, 2008
Chris Paul recorded his first triple-double of the season on Sunday afternoon, leading the Hornets to a 108-95 victory over the Golden State Warriors. The New Orleans point guard finished the game with 16 points, 13 assists and 10 rebounds.
April 6, 2008
Chris Paul dazzled in Sunday's 108-96 win over Golden State, as he recorded a triple-double with 16 points, 13 assists, 10 boards, and five steals. Believe it or not, that was only his first triple-double of the season.
April 5, 2008
Chris Paul was putting forth yet another MVP notice as his New Orleans Hornets put the wood to the New York Knicks, winning 110-118 last night. Paul went an impressive 10-of-19 from the field and 12-of-13 from the free-throw line to finish with 33 points, adding 15 assists to complete his SEVENTH consecutive double-double. In fact, Paul has failed to produce double-digit scores and assists in just one game in his last 16 contests.
April 2, 2008
Chris Paul might have fallen a bit short in the scoring column, but he still managed to post his sixth consecutive double-double in leading the Hornets to a dominating 106-77 win over the Miami Heat. Paul went 6-of-12 from the field and just 1-of-2 from the charity stripe to score 14 points, matched with 10 assists to secure the double-D.
April 1, 2008
Chris Paul has once again led his New Orleans Hornets to an impressive road win, beating the Orlando Magic 98-97. Paul posted his fifth consecutive double-double (his 12th this month), going 6-of-19 from the field and 7-of-10 from the free-throw line to score 19 points with 12 assists, four rebounds, and two steals. At this point, it must be getting difficult for MVP voters to ignore Paul. The Hornets would struggle for half as many wins without him and he’s enjoying a campaign that could become the measuring stick for point guards down the line.
March 30, 2008
Chris Paul continues to dazzle as he racked up 20 points, 16 assists, six boards, and two steals against Toronto on Sunday night. He is averaging 15 assists over his last four games.
March 29, 2008
Chris Paul , in case you missed it, should be given full consideration for the NBA’s MVP award for the 2007-08 season. Last night in a devastating 92-112 loss in Boston, Paul served as the only guiding light for the Hornets, posting 22 points with 10 assists. Since March 3rd, Paul has failed to hit double-digit scoring totals matched with double-digit assist totals just once (19 points, 7 assists vs. Boston, March 22nd). The man is averaging 21.6 points, 11.3 assists, and 2.7 steals per game, ranking as one of the best seasons by a point guard in NBA history.
March 26, 2008
Once again it is Chris Paul leading the Hornets to a tough-fought victory, beating the Cleveland Cavaliers on the road, 100-99. Paul scored 15 points, going just 5-of-17 from the field and 1-of-4 from the three-point arc, but Paul's whopping 20 assists was the difference, including the pass to David West for the game-winning jumper. Don't think the fellow MVP candidate on the floor didn't motivate Paul's performance. Few are willing to give Paul mention as a true top contender for the league's MVP award, but it is clear he is more than worthy of the honor.
March 19, 2008
Chris Paul continues to guide the New Orleans Hornets towards their best season to date, leading the way in a win over Houston, 90-69. Paul recorded yet another double-double with 21 points, 10 assists, four rebounds, and four steals. That’s eight consecutive double-double performances for the man worthy of this year’s MVP award. He’s scoring, he’s making everyone on the floor better, and the entire team is following his lead.
March 17, 2008
Chris Paul has been battling a sprained ankle, but impressively poured in a game-high 37 points as the Hornets downed the Bulls 108-97. He also dished out 13 assists with three steals and shouldn't be slowed down by his ankle going forward, evidenced by tonight's dazzling performance.
March 17, 2008
Chris Paul is expected to play through his sprained ankle again on Monday, according to the New Orleans Times-Picayune. He was clearly hobbled Sunday against the Pistons, which meant he was only faster than about 98 percent of all ballers on the planet. He still dished out 14 dimes and scored 14 points, so keep the superstar in your lineups tonight.
March 16, 2008
In the saga that is the MVP discussion for this NBA season, Chris Paul continues to push for votes, posting his sixth consecutive double-double in the Hornets' 84-105 loss to the Lakers. Paul finished with 14 points, matching with 14 assists. Only three other Hornets managed to post an assist today (each getting one), a strong voice of support for Paul's MVP candidacy (and a growing concern for the Hornets as the playoffs approach).
March 14, 2008
Hoisting the cause of the Hornets against the man likely to get the MVP trophy he deserves, Chris Paul continues to shine and post numbers that serve as the envy of fellow point guards around the NBA, scoring 27 points with 17 assists and four rebounds in the Hornets' 108-98 victory over the LA Lakers this evening. Paul has become a nightly double-double player and is well on his way to becoming a top-three fantasy pick in next year's draft.
March 12, 2008
Chris Paul may not garner the attention for the award, but nothing is stopping his MVP-worthy season on the court. Tonight the wunderguard scored 26 points with 17 assists to lead the way for the Hornets' 100-75 win over the San Antonio Spurs. That's four consecutive double-double performances for Paul, and there is no reason to believe he will slow.
March 8, 2008
Chris Paul posted 37 points, 11 assists, and two steals as the Hornets fall to the Houston Rockets, 96-106. With another outstanding performance, Paul is making all the noise he can for the MVP to come to New Orleans, but the failure to win leaves disappointment.
March 7, 2008
Chris Paul had another MVP worthy performance on Friday as he paced the Hornets with 25 points and 16 rebounds, along with three steals. He has now racked up 34 assists over his last two games.
March 5, 2008
Chris Paul continues his bid for league MVP with another outstanding effort to lead the Hornets over the Atlanta Hawks, 116-101. Paul scored 23 points (going 3-for-4 from three-point range) and added 18 assists with two rebounds and two steals.
March 3, 2008
Chris Paul scored 27 points leading the Hornets to a 100-88 victory over the New York Knicks on Monday night. Paul added eight assists and five rebounds in the win.
February 27, 2008
Chris Paul was his usual dominating self on Wednesday night as he scored 25 points, dished out 15 assists and made three steals in the Hornets 120-103 victory over the Suns. All of that and only one turnover? This was one hell of a performance, but given the fact that he came into the game averaging 20.7 points and 10.7 assists a game, we really shouldn't be at all surprised.
February 19, 2008
Chris Paul had a great showing in the All-Star Game, and was easily the best of the Western conference. Paul lead the team with 14 assists to go along with 16 points and four steals in 27 minutes of the East's 134-128 win. Paul's performance and the game's success are perfect timing for the Hornets, who entered the All-Star Weekend as one of the NBA's more struggling franchises. The San Francisco Chronicle reports that team has the option to terminate their lease with the city if the Hornets do not average 14,735 fans for this season and next, which raises the specter of relocation. Paul figures to be a huge fantasy asset as owners head toward the playoff rounds.
February 17, 2008
Chris Paul was the Western Conference's best player as he scored 16 points and handed out 14 assists in their 143-128 loss to the East. Paul did commit five fouls on the night, a huge total for an All-Star game, but he also added four steals in a sublime all-around effort.
February 13, 2008
Chris Paul had another standard outing on Wednesday night, and by that we mean he scored 21 points and dishes out 10 assists, almost spot no his yearly totals (20.5 points, 10.9 assists). This kid is a player and should be a fixture in the All-Star game for the next decade.
February 12, 2008
Chris Paul had 25 points and 14 assists in an impressive performance on Tuesday night. The Hornets defeated the Bulls 100-86. The loss was Chicago's sixth in its last nine contests. After only scoring two points on 1-for-10 shooting in a win against Memphis on Saturday, Paul scored 10 points in the first half for the Hornets on 5-for-10 shooting.
February 10, 2008
Chris Paul dished out 16 assists against the Grizzlies but he scored a mere two points to follow up a 42 point outing the game before as he went 1-for-10 from the field. Well, 44 points in two games still leaves Paul with a higher average in those outings than he has all season (20.4). Still, this type of inconsistency scoring is odd for Paul though he does have three single digit scoring games in his last eight efforts.
February 6, 2008
Chris Paul had 42 points, one off his career high, and a career-best eight steals, but scored only two points after regulation as the Hornets beat the Suns 132-130 in double overtime on Wednesday night. Paul had 43 points back on Dec. 7.
