Rudy Gay scored 22 points on Tuesday, leading the Grizzlies to their fourth win of the year. He had eight rebounds, four assists, two steals, and a block as well.

Our View:Gay has been solid for both points and rebounds most of this year. Look for him to continue this trend.
November 14, 2008
Rudy Gay had 24 points, three rebounds, two steals, and a block in Memphis' 101-96 overtime loss to the Bucks.

Our View:Gay's primary contribution in fantasy is points, but there's no shortage there as he's still averaging over 20 points-per-game.
November 12, 2008
Rudy Gay led all Memphis scorers with 20 points as they rolled over for the Knicks on Wednesday. He hit two threes to go with three boards, three assists and two steals.

Our View:That's right on his average and he should be a lock to average at least 20 this season.
November 10, 2008
Rudy Gay scored 20 points and seven rebounds as the Grizzlies fell 102-107 to the Suns on Monday.

Our View:O.J. Mayo scored 33 points and the rookie has been taking significantly more shots than Gay lately. It appears that Gay is no longer the top option in the Grizzlies' offense.
November 9, 2008
Rudy Gay contributed across the board with 16 points, seven rebound, four assists, three steals and two blocked shots on Sunday night. The only negatives were his 4-for-17 shooting and six turnovers.

Our View:Gay, the Grizzlies best player, certainly cannot afford to commit so many turnovers as the offense continual ends up running the ball through his hands. Look for him to tighten things up and for his numbers to improve as the season wears on.
November 1, 2008
Rudy Gay led Memphis with 20 points in Saturday's 96-86 loss to Chicago, to go along with five rebounds, one assist, one steal, and one block.

Our View:Gay has been the most solid and productive member of the Grizzlies so far, and should remain active in fantasy lineups.
October 31, 2008
Rudy Gay hit a last second jumper to beat the Magic 86-84 on Friday night. He finished with 29 points on 11-for-26 shooting.

Our View:Gay is the unquestioned focal point of the Grizzlies offense this season. He has yet to hit a three this, but that should change soon.
October 31, 2008
The Sports Network reports that the Memphis Grizzlies exercised the fourth-year team options on forward Rudy Gay.

Our View:Gay, the eighth overall pick in the 2006 draft, led all NBA sophomores in scoring last season (20.1 points per game). He holds career averages of 15.6 points, 5.3 rebounds and 1.6 assists in 160 games.
October 29, 2008
Rudy Gay scored 20 points with four rebounds and two steals as Memphis fell to Houston 71-82 on Wednesday.

Our View:Gay took 22 shots and did not hit a three-pointer. Memphis will need better efficiency from their star if they hope to be competitive this season.
October 24, 2008
Rudy Gay returned to practice after missing the team's last two preseason games due to a staph infection, according to the Memphis Commercial Appeal.

Our View:Gay is no longer limping as he was earlier in the week and is expected to be ready to take the court on opening night.
October 21, 2008
The AP reports that Rudy Gay has a staph infection and did not play Tuesday night in the Grizzlies’ preseason game against the Miami Heat. Gay will be a game-time decision for Memphis’ exhibition finale Wednesday against the Orlando Magic. The team did not reveal specifics of the infection, other than saying it was “in his leg area.”

Our View:There are several different kinds of staph, and the most common cause skin infections and irritations limited to small area of a person’s body. Gay was the Grizzlies’ leading scorer last season, averaging just over 20 points per game. He averaged a team-best 16.8 points in Memphis’ first six preseason games.
October 15, 2008
Rudy Gay scored 14 points, as did Darrell Arthur, though it wasn't enough as the Grizzlies fell 101-97 to the Rockets. Mike Conley also scored 12 points, as did Darko Milici while O.J. Mayo was held to nine points on 4-for-8 shooting.

Our View:Gay almost doubled his point total from 10.9 to 20.2 points per game in his second season last year, and appears to be on the precipice of fantasy stardom in 2008.
October 10, 2008
Rudy Gay led the Grizzlies with 17 points in Friday's 91-79 win over the Bobcats, to go along with four boards, two assists, and one steal. He played a little over 27 minutes.

Our View:Gay has made strides in each of his first two seasons in the NBA, and could be headed for a breakout campaign in 2008. He is off to a solid start in the preseason.
September 24, 2008
Rudy Gay is expected to be the Grizzlies starting power forward when the 2008-09 season opens, the Memphis Commercial-Appeal reports. The team had been shopping for a more traditional power forward this offseason.

Our View:Gay is going to be a solid fantasy player no matter where he lines up. However, we expected him to stick at small forward and allow Hakim Warrick to start. Now? We're not sure who will line up at small forward.

The Grizzlies and Heat are discussing trade options regarding the No. 2 and No. 5 picks. The Memphis club wants to move up in order to draft forward Michael Beasley, and the Heat could receive a point guard (Mike Conley or Kyle Lowry) in return, ESPN.com reports.

Our View:Consider this one of many rumors floating around as we head into Thursday's draft. If Beasley ended up in Memphis, though, he'd have a fairly open path to stardom. Rudy Gay is the Grizzlies' star, but Beasley could step into 15-18 points and 10 boards.

There are rumors that Texas A&M center DeAndre Jordan has a top-five commitment for the 2008 draft. Chad Ford of ESPN.com reports his sources have disputed those thoughts, but Jordan is apparently a lock for the top-10. The big man has workouts scheduled with the Grizzlies (5), Knicks (6), Bobcats (9), and Pacers (11).

Our View:Super athletic seven-footers rarely sink too far. Jordan is raw, and he averaged only 7.9 points and 6.0 rebounds as a freshman. He needs a lot of work, and while this kid isn't quite as big, we imagine Jordan might have a learned curve that resembles Andrew Bynum.

The Grizzlies might be heading towards life without a playoff appearance, but they are doing what they can to end on a positive note, and Rudy Gay is leading that charge. In 43 minutes of work, Gay went 13-of-22 from the field, an impressive 5-of-6 from three-point land, and 5-of-6 from the charity stripe to score 36 points, adding eight rebounds and three assists to complete a solid evening despite the hard-fought 113-127 loss to Phoenix . Gay has scored 20+ in seven consecutive games and 11 of his last 12.
April 2, 2008

March 21, 2008
Rudy Gay, who had failed to score in double-digits in two of the past four games, scored 24 points on Friday night for the Grizzlies. Unfortunately it was a pretty hollow outing in that he missed all four 3-pointers he took and he failed to dish out a single assist in over 34 minutes of action. Maybe you can take solace in the fact that he blocked two shots.
March 19, 2008
Rudy Gay has been dealing with a sore hamstring, but it did not slow him down on Wednesday night as he led Memphis with 25 points in their close loss to Minnesota. He also made seven rebounds, two assists, one steal, and one block. He should be solid again going forward.

February 12, 2008

January 19, 2008
Rudy Gay missed Friday's game with the flu. Bobby Jones picked up the start in Gay's place. Consider Gay day-to-day for the moment. It's a shame the virus came about now, as he was excellent (30 points, nine rebounds) in Thursday's match with Cleveland.
