Newsbreakers
November 19, 2008
Kevin Durant was the only Thunder starter to score in double digits on Wednesday. He finished with 18 points, three rebounds, and one assist.

Our View:Durant is the only thing from keeping this team above the NBDL. If he gets hurt, they could set a record for losses in a season. Maybe even if he doesn't.
November 17, 2008
Kevin Durant shot 13-of-23 and finished with 29 points as the Thunder fell 89-100 on Monday to the Rockets. He also chipped in seven rebounds, four assists, and four steals.

Our View:Durant has picked up his scoring of late and his owners will certainly enjoy his exceptional shooting percentage in the face of the league's No. 1 ranked scoring defense.
November 15, 2008
Kevin Durant scored 13 in the Thunder's 110-85 loss to the Sixers on Saturday. He also had three rebounds and one assist.

Our View:This was a down game for Durant, who's averaged over 22 points-per-game so far this year. Durant's bound to struggle occasionally as he plays for such a poor team.
November 14, 2008
Kevin Durant put up 23 points on Friday after being bothered by a sore left ankle. He also had two rebounds, two assists, a steal, and a block.

Our View:Durant is averaging just over 22 points per game, but it would be nice to see him increase his rebounding in which he's averaging under five per contest.
November 14, 2008
Kevin Durant will start Friday's game against the Knicks, according to the Associated Press.

Our View:Durant missed the Thunder's previous game on Wednesday due to his sore ankle, but is ready to go on Friday. He should be back in your lineup for fantasy.
November 14, 2008
Kevin Durant is probable for Friday's game against the Knicks, according to the Sports Network. He had been dealing with a sore ankle, which kept him out of Wednesday's game.

Our View:Durant should be penciled back into fantasy lineups, as he is averaging 22 points per game.
November 12, 2008
Desmond Mason started in place of Kevin Durant on Wednesday. He will be held out of the game due to a sore ankle.

Our View:Durant is coming off of a 37-point performance two nights ago and shouldn't miss much time with the injury. He has been durable throughout the beginning of his career.
November 12, 2008
The Oklahoman reports that Kevin Durant is a game-time decision tonight against Orlando with a sore left ankle.

Our View:Durant is coming off of a 37-point performance two nights ago and shouldn't miss much time, if any, with the injury. He has been durable throughout the beginning of his career.
November 10, 2008
Kevin Durant finished Monday's game against Indiana with 37 points, eight rebounds and three blocks. The Thunder lost 107-99.

Our View:This was the type of game owners had in mind when drafting the prolific scorer. He shot 13-for-27, including 2-of-3 from beyond the arc and 9-of-9 from the free throw line.
November 9, 2008
Kevin Durant led the Thunder with 20 points produced on a 9-for-21 effort from the field and two free throws. Durant also added four boards and three assists, but the six turnovers he was saddled with certainly were far from ideal.

Our View:Durant can certainly fill up the basket, but at this point of his career he is a pretty empty scorer who rarely contributes anything more than an average performance in the other fantasy categories.
November 2, 2008
Kevin Durant led Oklahoma City over Minnesota 88-85 on Sunday. He scored 18 points and grabbed five rebounds in the Thunder's first victory of the season.

Our View:Durant shot just 7-for-21 on the night and did not attempt a three-pointer. He has shot poorly to start the season.
November 1, 2008
Kevin Durant scored a game-high 26 points in Saturday's 89-77 win over Houston, with five boards, two assists, and four steals.

Our View:Durant enjoyed his best performance of the season, but could not prevent the Thunder from falling to 0-2.
October 29, 2008
Kevin Durant led all Thunder starters with 12 points in Oklahoma City's home opener on Wednesday. They lost to the Bucks 98-87.

Our View:It was a forgettable night for the Thunder and Durant. He should pick up his production going forward.
October 12, 2008
Kevin Durant scored 16 points and grabbed 14 rebounds in the Thunder's 102-122 loss to the Warriors on Saturday. He chipped in three steals, three assists and two blocks in the loss.

Our View:Durant is poised for an excellent season but not only because of his offensive abilities. He is good for at least a block and a steal per game but don't expect him to average a three-pointer per contest.

Fans in Seattle are suing Clay Bennett, who moved the Sonics from Seattle to Oklahoma City. And what they want in return are free tickets, according to the Seattle Post-Intelligencer. The suit, filed by three season ticket holders in Seattle, suggests that Bennett provide 1,400 free season tickets to former holders. "The fact that the team formerly known as the Sonics is now playing in Oklahoma City does not negate the defendant's contractual obligations," said lawyer Frederick Schoepflin.

Our View:Should this actually happen, it would allow the fans to sell the tickets, as going from Seattle to Oklahoma city 40 times a year would get pricey.

Despite earlier reports suggesting the decision has been made, the newly-formed Oklahoma City franchise of the NBA has filed for trademark rights to six nicknames, including the Bisons, Barons, Energy, Marshalls, Thunder, and Wind, according to the Daily Oklahoman.

Our View:Thunder won a fan vote on NewsOK.com and is still believed to be the name of choice, but the decision to trademark other names has us wondering if they have yet to make up their minds. All the names, except for Marshalls, were top picks by readers, as well. We'll keep you posted
July 20, 2008
The Oklahoma City franchise has chosen its new nickname, according to the AP. It has been announced the club will be called the Thunder.

July 18, 2008
Kevin Durant will have his jersey retired at the University of Texas, according to ESPN.com.

Our View:Durant's only season at Texas was a special one, though some may argue that he doesn't deserve the honor after only playing one year.
July 10, 2008
Reports from the Sonics state the 2007-08 Rookie of the Year, forward Kevin Durant , has been withheld from the team's summer league game tonight against Orlando, according to the Associated Press.

Our View:Oklahoma City said it was holding Durant out, though the forward said earlier this week he wanted to compete against the Miami Heat’s Michael Beasley. The two are friends, and fellow No. 2 overall draft picks.
July 9, 2008
Kevin Durant laced up his sneakers to participate in Day 2 of the Orlando Pro Summer League. In 27 minutes he scored 22 points and pulled down five rebounds.

Our View:You have to like this from the young millionaire. He insisted on coming so that he could mingle with his teammates, then he insisted on playing. He was at the draft lottery, then the actual draft. After the Orlando League, he will participate in practices with Team USA as they prepare for the Olympics. Durant's priorities are in line. He's a basketball player that LOVES the game.
July 2, 2008
It appears the rumors are now becoming a reality as the Seattle SuperSonics will move to Oklahoma City for the 2008-09 season as part of a settlement with the city of Seattle, according to the Miami Herald.

The team's name and colors will be staying in Seattle. Bennett said the move would start Thursday and the first focus would be on the SuperSonics' players.

April 30, 2008
Kevin Durant will be named the NBA Rookie of the Year, according to ESPN. He beat out other top nominee Al Horford of Atlanta. Durant led all rookies in scoring (20.3).

April 18, 2008
The NBA owners voted 28-2 on Friday and approved the bid to relocate the Sonics to Oklahoma City. All that stands in the way of the move is potential a Seattle city lawsuit forcing the club to honor its lease with KeyArena, the Seattle Post-Intelligencer reports. Mavericks owner Mark Cuban and Trail Blazers owner Paul Allen voted against the move.

Our View:First the Pilots move to Milwaukee and now this!?! This vote was basically a sad formality at this point.
April 17, 2008
Kevin Durant was named the Western Conference Rookie of the Month of April, this according to NBA.com. Durant led all rookies with a scoring average of 24.3 for the month with 4.1 assists per game as he shot 46.1% from the field and 84.4% from the line.

Our View:Durant put up solid numbers this season on offense with 20.3 points a game, but his lithe body limited him to just 4.4 rebounds per game, a total that needs to improve to make him a fantasy force.
April 16, 2008
To end the season with a bang (a bang that should have happened much earlier in his rookie season), Seattle SG Kevin Durant put the hurt to the Golden State Warriors in leading his team to a 126-121 win over the Golden State Warriors. Durant shot 18-of-25 from the field to score 42 points. Durant also added 13 rebounds, six assists, and two blocked shots.

Our View:This was Durant's top single-game point total this season and serves as a sign of hope that the vast potential held in that skinny frame may still come to fruition next season.
April 11, 2008
For the Seattle SuperSonics, the season can't end soon enough, and the same can be said for rookie Kevin Durant . Expected to run away with the league's Rookie of the Year award, Durant has fallen well short of hope but continues to serves as one of few bright spots for his team. In tonight's 74-95 loss to the Spurs, Durant shot 9-of-19 from the field and 2-of-3 from the free-throw line to finish with a team-high 20 points, adding six rebounds and three assists to the effort.

Our View:Get this: Seattle attempted just two three-point shots all night long COMBINED. The lack of interest from the team is troubling, but Durant continues to do what he can.
April 9, 2008

Kevin Durant returned to the lineup to score 17 points despite sitting out the entire 4th quarter in the Sonics 99-87 victory over Portland. Durant somehow managed to play over 28 minutes with handing out a single assist, and he has actually produced an anemic five assists in his past four games. Pass the rock every once in a while Kevin, don't worry, your teammates will pass it back.

February 13, 2008
