August 24, 2008 Jason Smith was examined Tuesday afternoon by Dr. David Altchek, the medical director for the Nets and an orthopedic surgeon in New York, according to phillyBurbs.com. The new MRI tests confirmed Smith's ACL injury that Sixers team physician Dr. Jack McPhilemy had previously diagnosed.
Our View:Smith will continue with therapy and medication before a follow-up visit with Altchek in early September, which is when Smith and the Sixers should find out when he'll undergo knee surgery. Smith is expected to miss the 2008-09 season.
