October 19, 2008 Rookie Ryan Anderson returned from a ping-pong induced shoulder injury to pour in 20 points against the Celtics on Sunday.
Our View:The Nets scored just 66 points without Vince Carter in the lineup. They do not have many options on offense so there's a chance Anderson could find himself some quality playing time in his first season. However, his minutes figure to be too inconsistent to warrant any fantasy consideration.
October 17, 2008 An MRI yesterday found Ryan Anderson has a shoulder strain, according to the New York Post. The shoulder was bothering him and he apparently aggravated it practicing Wednesday. It worsened that night: "I was playing ping-pong and I felt it real bad," he said. "It's nothing too serious."
Our View:Anderson had shown some flashes of brilliance since being drafted. The Nets are deep with big men, though, and he won't play consistently enough to warrant any fantasy consideration.
October 7, 2008 The Nets' website reports that Ryan Anderson may start the preseason opener against Miami on Thursday. He has been bodying Yi Jianlian in the post and denying him the ball throughout training camp. Carter says simply he has been “just tremendous” in camp.
Our View:This is somewhat of a shocker to most as Anderson struggled in the Rocky Mountain Revue summer league. Anderson has a nice shot and an aggressive style, but it's hard to believe he would start in a deep Nets' frontcourt.
