October 25, 2008 Sonny Weems, who missed the preseason because of a groin strain, could land in the NBA Development League, according to the Rocky Mountain News. Coach George Karl said, "My vote is to get him in shape by sending him down to the D-League and let him have training camp with them."
Our View:Weems is a great athlete, but needs work on developing his skills on the court. He would hold a limited role with the Nuggets, and would more favorably benefit by playing in the Development League.
September 15, 2008 The Nuggets have signed guard Sonny Weems, the AP confirms. Terms of the deal were not disclosed. Weems, a second-round pick this past June, underwent sports hernia surgery in July, but he is expected to be ready for the start of camp on September 30.
Our View:Weems is an exceptional athlete but somewhat of a raw product on the court. We don't envision him finding much time with the Nuggets this year.
