The Orange County Register reports that Kobe Bryant will hold off having surgery on his hand in order to compete in the Olympics this summer.

Our View:Bryant tore a ligament in his hand mid-season and continues to delay a surgery that doctors have deemed necessary. But if you thought he would let down his country, you are out of your mind. This is yet another chapter to add to the lengthy, selfless Kobe Bryant Saga.

Kobe Bryant is content with the Lakers and didn't close out the season angry at team management as he was in 2007, according to the LA Times. Bryant said, "I'm comfortable with what we have. Whatever Mitch (Kupchak) decides to do, he decides to do. I am bitter we lost the championship, but I bounce back pretty quickly. Not to say the loss doesn't sting, because it does and it will, but I bounce back quickly."

Our View:Bryant will head off to Las Vegas next week to practice with the U.S. Olympic basketball team. After the Beijing Games he will undergo surgery on his injured right pinkie. He couldn't lead the Lakers to the NBA title, but a gold medal in the Olympics would be a tremendous consolation prize.

Kobe Bryant and his Laker teammates are a game from elimination but there is no panic for the team, nor is there a sense that Kobe must win the series by himself, according to Slam Sports. "A lot of people say, 'Kobe, you have to go out for 40 or 50,' but that's not how we play," Bryant said. "That's not what's going to win championships. We've got to stick together, ride this out as a unit, and that's what we're going to do."

Our View:While it's true that the whole team needs to contribute, it certainly wouldn't hurt if Bryant had one of those games where he lights up the scoreboard. If we had to guess, we would say there could be a lot of fireworks in Game 6.
