Our View:Carter should be fine and ready to go come the regular season. He will be asked to carry the Nets' offense and his scoring average could jump back to the 25 points per game that it was two seasons ago. As usual with Carter though, there is no guarantee that his heart will stay in it and there is a chance he could lose interest on the season if the Nets struggle early on.

It seems the New Jersey Nets had the opportunity to get a bit more action going on draft night, an already-hectic affair as one of several teams utilizing the interests trade to get business going, but an offer for Vince Carter failed to yield yet another major roster change, according to the Newark Star-Ledger.

Our View:The Cleveland Cavaliers reportedly offered guard Wally Szczerbiak and his expiring $13.2 million contract to the Nets for Carter, but New Jersey failed to see the value. That speaks volumes for a player many have questioned over recent seasons. The reconstruction of this team has been massive, but it appears Carter is part of the plan.

Our View:The Nets have some nice pieces in Vince Carter, Richard Jefferson, Devin Harris, and Nenad Krstic. Their future seems to rest on if young players like Josh Boone, Marcus Williams, Sean Williams, and Maurice Ager can turn into productive parts of the rotation. Our View:Carter's 10 assists tonight will go a long way to allowing him to average five assists per game for the first time in his career (he entered the game with an average of 5.0 per game). He isn't as explosive as he once was, but that doesn't mean he still isn't a top flight producer.
