December 29, 2008 ESPN.com reports that former NBA guard Earl Boykins will be heading back to Italy this week to rejoin his current team, Virtus Bologna, amid rumors he was returning to the U.S. to once again play professionally. Despite the club's denial, Boykins flew to America for a four-day break during Christmas to attend to his son's undisclosed medical condition.
Our View:Before defecting overseas, Boykins enjoyed his finest offensive season in the NBA in 2006-07, scoring nearly 15 points per game for Denver and Milwaukee.
August 5, 2008 Guard Earl Boykins has signed a one-year contract with Virtus Bologna in Italy, ESPN.com confirms. The deal is worth more than $3.5 million, and Boykins will be the highest-paid play in Italy.
Our View:Boykins only played a half-season in 2007-08 after his solid 2006-07 campaign. The 5-5 guard is getting a major raise and will be a good pick in your fantasy Italian League Serie A basketball draft.
January 31, 2008 Earl Boykins signed with the Bobcats Thursday, the AP reports. Boykins had been out of the NBA since deciding last summer not to exercise the player option on his deal with the Bucks that would have paid him $3 million this season. The club has some injury and performance issues at guard, so it will be interesting to see how much time head coach Sam Vincent finds for Boykins.
