Our View:The six-year vet is believed to ink a deal before training camp. Chucky Atkins will miss around six weeks after right knee surgery, and Cleaves would provide depth at guard. As a fantasy player, Cleaves should not be drafted.
October 25, 2007 The Nets waived guard Mateen Cleaves on Wednesday, the AP reported. New Jersey still has to make at least two more cuts, however, with 17 player remaining on their roster.
Our View:The Nets have Jason Kidd, Darrell Armstrong and Marcus Williams, so their point guard spot should be fine without Mateen.
