Celtics re-sign Cassell
Boston, MA (Sports Network) - The Boston Celtics signed guard Sam Cassell on Monday. Per team policy, terms of the deal were not disclosed.

Cassell joined the Celtics last season after he was waived by the Los Angeles Clippers. He played 17 games with the Celtics and averaged 7.6 points and 2.1 assists per game.

In Celtics' successful postseason run, he averaged 4.5 points and 1.2 assists in 17 games on the way to winning his third NBA title.

The 6-foot-3, 185-pound Cassell, a 15-year NBA veteran, was originally selected by the Rockets with the 24th overall p... More...

Newsbreakers
Patrick O'Bryant, CFriday 10/3, 8:00 AM CT
Center Patrick O'Bryant is working on his game, getting quality time on the floor during practice while Kendrick Perkins remains out with a shoulder malady, according to the Boston Globe.

Our View:O'Bryant was the ninth overall pick in 2006, but was a bust with Golden State. He averaged a measly 1.5 points per game to go with 1.2 rebounds per game, and has very little fantasy value on the World Champion Celtics.
Darius Miles, FTuesday 9/30, 9:05 PM CT
Boston's Darius Miles was suspended 10 games for violating the NBA's drug policy, but does not know how he tested positive for phentermin - common in diet pills - and he will not appeal, according to ESPN.com. I could have gone to a team that would have me to appeal it and fight it, but I went to a team that told me to leave it alone, so I'll leave it alone," Miles said.

Our View:Miles will still have to make the team out of training camp, and only then would he serve the suspension.
Sam Cassell, GMonday 9/29, 5:17 PM CT
The AP reports that Sam Cassell re-signed with the Boston Celtics on Monday.

Our View:The 38-year-old Cassell joined the team in March for the playoff run, playing in 17 regular-season games before averaging 4.5 points in the playoffs. He will battle with Eddie House as Rajon Rondo's primary backup this season. He does not figure to hold any fantasy value.
