Ryan Anderson, F Tuesday 10/7, 8:30 PM CT
The Nets' website reports that Ryan Anderson may start the preseason opener against Miami on Thursday. He has been bodying Yi Jianlian in the post and denying him the ball throughout training camp. Carter says simply he has been “just tremendous” in camp.

Our View: This is somewhat of a shocker to most as Anderson struggled in the Rocky Mountain Revue summer league. Anderson has a nice shot and an aggressive style, but it's hard to believe he would start in a deep Nets' frontcourt.
Bobby Simmons, G Tuesday 10/7, 6:16 PM CT
The Newark Star-Ledger reports that Bobby Simmons will likely be the starter at small forward this season. He is battling Jarvis Hayes and Trenton Hassell for the job.

Our View: Simmons was the league's Most Improved Player in 2005 and he would like to earn the title a second time. He is a quality source of three-pointers and steals and his other numbers will not hurt you. He is one of three Nets who have averaged at least 10 points per game over their careers.
Awvee Storey, G Monday 10/6, 2:48 PM CT
Awvee Storey has been waived by the Nets, according to NetsDaily.com.

Our View: He was a camp invitee and was viewed as a lonshot to make the Nets, despite a strong showing in the summer league.
Sean Williams, F Friday 10/3, 4:43 PM CT
NorthJersey.com reports that Sean Williams has made big strides over the summer according to Vince Carter. “He’s definitely made strides forward, 100 percent,” Carter added. “I’m happy for him...His growth is tremendous.”

Our View: If Williams earns 25-plus minutes per game he will be a lock for two or more blocks per game. He is a classic category specialist. Keep an eye on how Lawrence Frank uses this season.
Yi Jianlian, F Friday 10/3, 4:39 PM CT
Yi Jianlian practiced for the first time with the Nets on Sunday according to NorthJersey.com. He was recovering from a mild ankle sprain he suffered in the Olympics.

Our View: He participated 100 percent and his sprained ankle was not giving him any trouble. He should be able to see enough playing time to improve upon his modest rookie numbers. He is a risky selection in fantasy, but his risk/reward should be worth a late bench selection.
