The AP reports that defensive end Phillip Daniels has officially been placed on the injured reserve and will likely miss the entire season. He tore his ACL on the first day of training camp.

Our View:This is a blow for the Redskins defense. They have re-signed the less talented J.T. Mapu to take his spot on the defensive line.

Updating prior reports, defensive end Phillip Daniels tore the ACL in his left knee on June 20. The 35-year-old Daniels is now contemplating his future. "Whether it be playing or coaching, I don't know, we'll see," Daniels tells the Washington Post. "Hopefully I get another opportunity to come back and finish my career on a high note and not end it this way... I'm going to try hard to come back."

Our View:Daniels is know for being a hard worker, and we have little doubt he can come back after rehab, even at 36. That being said, he wasn't a good IDP talent before this latest injury and won't be once he returns.

The Redskins have announced that Phillip Daniels is going to miss the entire 2008 campaign due to the knee injury he sustained today in 7-on-7 drills, according to the Washington Post.

Our View:The exact injury is yet to be disclosed. This is a tough loss as the Redskins are very thin at defensive end. Demetric Evans would be the next in line to start opposite Andre Carter heading into training camp.

Phillip Daniels hyperextended his left knee during 7-on-7 drills on Sunday, and will undergo an MRI to determine the severity of the ailment, according to the Washington Post.

Our View:The team is hoping that his knee is only sprained, though Daniels looked bad as he was being carted off the field, with a towel over his head. The Redskins' defensive line is thin and could not afford to lose Daniels.

Phillip Daniels practiced fully for the second straight day on Thursday, but he still might not be able to face the Giants this Sunday. "I went out there and did some things, and I feel good, but it's still going to be a game time thing," Daniels tells the Washington Post. "I'm probably about 85 percent, maybe 90 percent, so it's better than where it was. I was about 30 percent." He did not play in Week 2 after spraining his foot in the opener.
