Despite initially saying they wouldn't add a veteran quarterback in the wake of Rex Grossman's injury, the Bears locked up Jeff Blake to a one-year deal Sunday, according to the Chicago Tribune. Coach Lovie Smith said Blake will battle Kurt Kittner for the third-string job behind Chad Hutchinson and rookie Kyle Orton.

Jeff Blake has been released by the Cardinals and Josh McCown has been tabbed the team\'s starting quarterback, according to the AP. "Josh McCown is our starting quarterback, so we felt it is in Jeff\'s best interests to release him now to give him the opportunity to catch on with another team," new Cardinals coach Dennis Green said.

Jeff Blake will start this week, but he may sit a chunk of the game (as well as the rest of the games this season) so the Cardinals can get a look at Josh McCown and Preston Parsons, according to the Arizona Republic. The club wants to start looking forward to the possibility of drafting a quarterback with their top pick.
